What is the Best Tea to Drink for Weight Loss?

A Morning Tea

The Ayurvedic Masala Chai Blend is the best tea to drink for weight loss because of its digestive and immune-supporting herbs. You may drink it year-round, but it is particularly helpful during the holidays when we most like to indulge in sweets. From Halloween to Valentine’s Day it seems our immune systems never get a break from tasty treats.

Drink this chai in a smoothie or latte. It’s a blend of Cinnamon, Cardamom, Clove, Ginger, Nutmeg, and Black Pepper, all organic of course. Cinnamon, Ginger Cardamom are gentle digestive herbs, whereas the Clove and Nutmeg will help boost your immune system and help prevent any cold or allergies you may feel while eating those chocolates, or peppermint candy canes.

To prepare, you may add it as is to your smoothie or latte, no need to filter it out. You may also simply add it to a cup of cold or warm water and sip on it this way if you prefer.

It has rather a bitter taste, but the ginger helps sweeten it and the cinnamon taste so good you will crave more of this blend the next day. They even have a recipe for a sugarless treat made up of this blend with dates, and cinnamon. We can’t wait to try it for the holidays ourselves. Get it here on Amazon.

An After Dinner Tea

The VPK Digest and Detox Tea is a blend of cumin, coriander, and fennel. Each of these herbs helps aid digestion. With a few cups of this tea, your body odor will even begin to smell better. These have a rich scent of bittersweetness and taste wonderful together.

If you are unused to herbal drinks, you may need to drink a couple of cups before growing a taste for it. You may also want to try adding fresh ginger to sweeten it up a bit. Drink a cup of this after Christmas dinner and you will forget you indulged within an hour or so.

We recommend drinking 1 cup after dinner. It is a light ‘laxative’ so it will gently move your digestion, unlike other weight loss detox teas that will flush you out like a kid on a bobsled. Get it on Amazon here.

Be sure to have your own method of brewing herbs such a French press, an herbal teaspoon or a tea pot with a filter because this comes as a loose leaf. Because it’s a blend of seeds and roots, you may get two pours out of it, the second being lighter of course but still benefitting your digestive system.

Peppermint and Chamomile Tea

Peppermint really helps your digestion and gets rid of the food in your system really fast. However, it is a diuretic meaning it will dehydrate you. If you live in a dry climate, it’s best to pair peppermint tea with chamomile or another moisturizing herb and drink lots of water before and after.

For me personally, I prefer not to drink peppermint tea to avoid having to drink several glasses of water just to re-hydrate. I prefer drinking one of the blends above. Occasionally though, you eat just way too much and need something a bit stronger, that’s when peppermint tea is a good idea. If you live in humidity you can drink peppermint and chamomile tea nearly every day and be just fine.

You don’t need a scientific study to know the effects peppermint tea has on your body. Just drink a glass and see what happens to your digestion.

To prepare this blend I use one tea back of peppermint and one tea back of chamomile. You can get two cups of tea out of it this way. You also know what is in it. Most teas that mix chamomile and peppermint add a lot of other ingredients.

A Green Tea

It’s well known now that Green Tea is a metabolism booster. The science that claims green tea will boost your metabolism is widely inconclusive, however the majority of those studies have proven favorably toward its effect on metabolizing fat. For more information about the scientific research conducted on the effect of green tea on weight loss, read this study on PubMed: The Effect of Green Tea Extract on Fat Oxidation at Rest and During Exercise: Evidence Efficacy and Proposed Mechanisms

Drink a cup of green tea in the afternoon to give you an extra boost of energy to get you through the rest of the day. It’s a far better alternative to a sugary treat.

Avoid the green teas you find in a can on the shelf at your local gas station or grocery store. These are packed full of sugar which will completely negate any positive effect green tea has on your weight loss goals. You must drink tea without any added sugar or honey to see weight loss.

Its biggest weight loss function is the caffeine and its effect on your workout. When you drink caffeine before a workout, you work much harder than you might without it. You have way more energy too and your body can sustain physical activity for longer.

We like the FGO Ogranic Green Tea.

A Black Tea

In addition to the benefits of drinking caffeine for weight loss as discussed above, scientific studies have found that black tea is an excellent weight loss tea because it has no side effects, unlike laxatives and other pharmaceutical treatments. Visit PubMed here to further read the study conducted on black tea and its anti-obesity effects.

Some may be turned off by its bitter taste, so it isn’t for everyone. Sweetening it up with sugar like they do in the south is trouble for weight loss and should be avoided. If you have a sweet tooth you may prefer the morning or dinner teas mentioned earlier.

An Oolong Tea

Oolong tea has many flavors depending on how it is processed. It may be sweet, or it may be grassy, or floral. Most scientific studies have concluded that both Oolong tea and Black tea have a significant effect on weight loss. A study conducted on Oolong Tea and Black Tea found that in the majority of studies, both have proven to have strong weight-loss properties. For more information read the complete study on PubMed here

The tea leaves in this Oolong tea are hand picked and organic. The taste is similar to a black tea. It’s earthy and a little bit sweet. If you like sugar in your tea and are trying to get away from sugar to lose weight, this is a good one to try.

A White Tea

Most of the research is conducted on the health benefits of green tea but a study conducted in 2010 compared green tea to white tea and found that they have similar health benefits. Read the study here on PubMed. White tea has anti-carcinogenic, immune-boosting and antioxidative properties. It makes a great alternative to green tea if you’ve been drinking it for a while now and are looking to spice things up a bit.

White tea is also a great alternative to green tea because it has less caffeine. We like the Prince of Peace Organic White Tea because it doesn’t have any added flavoring and it’s a great price compared to anything else you’ll find online.

Dianqing Tea, Lushan Yunwu Tea, and Xihu Longjing  Tea

Green tea has the highest concentration of antioxidants, however, these are the three teas with the next highest amount of antioxidant properties. As concluded by a study conducted on 30 different kinds of teas of varying types; green tea, yellow tea, white tea, black tea, dark teas. The researchers found that Dianging, Lushan Yunwu, and Xihu Longiing had the strongest anticancer and antioxidant effects next to green tea. To read the complete study, visit PubMed here.

Water, Lots of Water

Oftentimes we eat even when we are not hungry. Instead of eating, drink a glass of water. This will help you reduce calories; help aid your digestion and keep your body hydrated. This is one of the most effective ways to lose weight. Try to drink about 8 cups of water per day and keep a large cup of water next to your bed at night. If you have a drinking cup that holds 32 ounces of water use this for drinking. It will help you get more water because the less you must refill your glass, the better. Carry a water bottle with you when you leave the house. Some people carry a reusable water bottle around the house.

Drinking Tea and Cleaning Up Your Diet is the Best Weight Loss Program You Will Find

With a clean diet free of allergenic food and by drinking lots of tea, your body will start resetting back to its normal weight, and fast! You’ll be surprised how quickly you can get to a normal weight.

There are other benefits to eating a clean diet, you have more energy to workout and you desire a good workout. It no longer becomes a dread going to the gym but something you look forward to. With a diet free of allergenic foods, you might not work out for weeks and still have the same body you had a few weeks ago without loss of any progress. That shows you how important it is to put nutritive foods into your body, so lots of fruits and vegetables and very little of anything else.

Look for These Herbs in Your Teas for Weight Loss

The cost per cup may be less if you choose to purchase the ingredients separately and make your own tea blends. Here are the herbs we use for weight loss and the properties associated with that herb. How to Pick Your Herbs

Visit your natural grocery or local apothecary and pick herbs that smell good to you, that is how you will know your body needs it. If it doesn’t smell good, don’t drink it. There have been times where one-week dandelion root smells like heaven, and the next week it’s repulsive. It’s not because the herbs have gone bad it’s because my body has changed and no longer needs it.

Scientific Studies on Herbs for Obesity and Weight Loss

A study conducted on an eight-herb formula (RCM-107) found that this formula inhibited pancreatic lipase and therefore reduced lipid absorption. Lipids are fats. Read more about this study here. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31538117

Another study conducted in 2018 found common spices helped decrease weight gain in obese rats and humans. The herbs studied were Cinnamon, Rosemary, Ginger, Pepper, Saffron, Garlic, Onion and Turmeric. Read more about this study here. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30168574

All the studies on sugar consumption are inconclusive. This however is not the case. Sugar corporations pay big money to hide the studies indicating any negative impact that sugar has on the body. It’s kind of a big problem.

Purnus persica is a fruit tree called peach blossom and has shown to maybe increase the bodies ability to digest hepatic lipids and reduce lipgenesis. The peach blossom also increases fatty acid oxidation. The result is an anti-obesity effect on the body. To learn more about this study visit PubMed here. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31514294

Avoid These Foods When Cleansing Your Body

  • Dairy
  • Milk
  • Peanut Butter
  • Eggs
  • Wheat
  • Corn
  • Oranges
  • Refined Sugar
  • Honey
  • Dried Fruit
  • Fruit Juices
  • Food Coloring

A study conducted in 2019 found that adult women who primarily ate vegetables and fruits had a reduction in inflammation. Inflammation is a symptom of obesity and being overweight and tied to several adverse health conditions. The study on PubMed can be found here at “Adherence to a healthy plant diet may reduce inflammatory factors in obese and overweight women-a cross-sectional study”

Avoid anything with a label on it. If you can ready the ingredients in it, it isn’t a whole fresh plant and no good for you. Even if it is a vegan something or another in a box and it’s still meant to be avoided. A vegan something or another in a box is probably better for you than most other processed foods but it is still processed. Also, sugar free labels are scary and need to be avoided at all cost. Whatever they use it to sweeten it instead of sugar is a horrifying mystery and certainly cannot be good for your weight loss or mission to obtain health. A scientific study suggested that artificial sweeteners actually reduce the body’s ability to produce insulin.

How to Use Caffeine in Coffee to Detox

When you are getting away from all the junk food your body is exhausted. It is exhausted while you are eating all the junk food too, not just when you are detoxing! Every day you rely on caffeine to counteract the loss of energy. The loss of energy carries over until your body no longer has that food running through your veins.

To help combat the feelings of fatigue and lack of motivation and fatigue, it’s a good idea to drink some caffeine. Caffeine is also a digestive and will help you get rid of what’s in your system too. One cup of coffee every day will help boost your energy as it slowly eliminates all the lethargic causing foods and you replenish the body with energizing nutrients.

As you continue to eat healthy you will start to notice an abundance of energy that comes from eating plant-based foods, and only occasionally eating meat. Occasionally eating meat means about once a week, that is really all you need.

This isn’t a quick fix; you will see gradual results but don’t expect to wake up in a week completely transformed. Depending on how long you have been eating processed foods, your body may take anywhere from 3 months to a year or longer to get back to healthy.

This fix is the only one that works but it isn’t going to work for everyone. It’s hard to stay away from those foods that are bringing your vibe down. Those foods are engineered to taste good and be addicting so that you come back for more. You will go back, you will not be able to stay on this diet for weeks at a time, in the beginning. No one can stick to it every day at first. It may take you several years to really change the way you eat. It certainly did me.

Patience is so important when it comes to losing weight. Patience and a lot of love for yourself and the process.

What It’s Like to be Sugar Free

Eliminating sugar has been the fastest way I’ve found to lose weight. I spent 5 years trying to avoid eating sugar and then when I got into a 1-bedroom apartment, only then was it that I was able to avoid sugar because no one around me or in my house was buying it. The food choices were completely up to me and I still eventually, went back to sugar and had it on a regular basis.

During the first three months of being in my apartment though, I was really motived to change. I was free of sugar, on a tight budget and only allowed plant foods into my home. If I wanted to eat meat, I treated myself to my favorite burger at a local restaurant. After about 3 months, that is when my motivation waned and I occasionally indulged.

During those three months though, I found out what it’s like to be sugar free and it felt so good. I no longer needed coffee, I had clear skin, I had a lot of energy, coffee was too much, and it was easier to manage my emotions. My mood stabilized without sugar in my diet. I had completely gotten rid of my yeast infection for the first time in seven years. Not everyone is this sensitive to sugar, but I sure am and a lot of us are, if we know it or not.

Today, I eat less sugar than I ever have. It’s easier to say no because of all my time spent not eating it. Every year gets better and better and I get closer to being sugar free.

The best way to avoid sugar is to eat really sweet fruits instead. Dates are so sweet, it’s almost overpowering but oh do they work to kill that sweet tooth and taste so good. Eating lots of rice and unprocessed carbohydrates helps too. My diet had 1 cup of rice in it per day. The carbohydrates have natural sugars in them that boost your energy and help curb sugar cravings.

To help wane yourself off refined sugar go with honey, or maple syrup to sweeten your food or beverages instead. You’ll feel better knowing you are making a better choice. Eventually, you will want to get away from honey and maple syrup too.

If you drink, I have no idea how to help you get away from sugar. Perhaps see a therapist if you want to stop drinking but don’t know how. If you wish to continue drinking that is fine too, carry on with your beautiful bad self. Following the other tips in this article will still help you to lose weight.

How to Eat to Loose Weight

My mother bought the Nutrisystem meals to help her lose weight. It worked for her. She gradually lost 3 or 4 lbs. per week and eventually dropped 60 lbs. She looks amazing now and still drinks. Go mom. What this system taught her was to eat small meals several times throughout the day. She would have 6 meals per day to be precise. She also calorie counted and found that eating 1200 calories a day is enough to keep her energized and still lose weight. It’s going to be different for everyone so play with calorie counting and see what works for you.

I personally found that eating only fruits and vegetable made me feel so good, that I no longer cared about what I weighed or how much I was eating. The worry and guilt all went away as I became more confident that I was putting quality nutritive foods into my body.

Therapy was a huge help too. As I worked through my emotions and found out why I was eating the way I was, and choosing foods that I didn’t like, I stopped choosing those foods, naturally. It wasn’t forced or a deliberate decision anymore. Instead of needing that emotional support, I instead got it from my therapist, and easily started making healthier decisions.

Why Eating Healthy Helps Your Menstrual Cycle

Oh boy, can I tell when I’ve had a lot of junk food or sugar and my body starts its cycle. I get cramps, I’m exhausted, and everything hurts. When I am eating only plants and meat occasionally, I don’t even notice a difference when my menstrual cycle begins. Life carries on as it was.

Therapy has helped with this too. I noticed no change in my mood or emotions when I started. Therapy allowed me to deal with my emotions instead of bottling them up and then letting them all out when my menstrual cycle came along. My relationships are better because of it too.

Stop Being Hard on Yourself and Love Every Single Inch of You

It’s really hard to do anything without a lot of love. When you look in the mirror, focus on the things you love about yourself and deliberately ignore everything else. Even if it’s just your eyes, focus on only the good things.

Stop being mean to yourself, be gentle. Be kind. Be sensitive. Be caring. If you have meat on your bones, you are one of the best people to hug and cuddle up next to. You are the best to be around!!! You are an amazing woman!!! You are strong!!! You are intelligent!!! And I’m saying this because it’s true!!! You are sexy!!!! You are lovable in every single way!!! Skinny or not!!! Both is beautiful in its own way. It’s like saying one flower is beautiful and the other is not. Both are stunning, just different colors and smells, that is all. Keep building yourself up.

You Will Eat Bad and It’s Okay!

No one eats perfectly, not even skinny girls. You will go weeks eating right and then one week eating bad and that is okay. It’s normal and expected. Don’t get mad at yourself, accept it as it is and let it go. Come back to the moment and appreciate everything you have. Appreciate your relationships, your home, and completely accepts your body as it is.

Enjoy Your Exercise

Pick an exercise that you enjoy, Zumba or dance classes are so much fun! Pick something you can do that will make you forget you are exercising. Don’t run on a treadmill. Treadmills, in fact, were designed as punishment for prisoners. Prisons used this as a torture treatment. If you don’t like it, stop doing it. If you like Pilates and Yoga do it! If you like doing sit-ups while you watch commercials, do it! If you love riding your bike or going for a hike, then go for it!!!

Why Diet’s Don’t Always Work

These are usually unsustainable. A diet or detox program may only be sustainable for a week or so but what happens after that? You haven’t established a routine that you can use every day to get closer to your goals, so you go back to what you were doing before and then your body goes back to the way it was before the diet. Some diets work and make sense for certain individuals, just be warry of those that claim to work in a week or a set number of days.

What do you think about losing weight, tell us what works for you! What allows you to succeed!!! What’s happening in your life, what motivates you! Your anonymous comments are welcome too.
