Effective Hand Crafted Skin Care Remedies

Choosing to use organic skincare brands is the first step to safeguarding the health of your skin. The second step is becoming a more active consumer, always double-check the ingredients and carry out your own research. Of course, with the numerous 100% organic and handcrafted skincare brands coming up, finding a suitable brand is not as difficult.

Regardless, it is often hard for an individual using conventional beauty products to switch to natural skin creams, oils and body scrub. Maybe you’re one of those that are still on the fence about using organic skincare products. If so, the easiest way to work around your unease and/or hesitancy is to make your own from homemade skincare recipes.

With the below highlighted homemade skincare remedies, natural skincare at home has never been easier. Admittedly, the below mentioned remedies and recipes are no different from the ones used by top handcrafted skincare brands. Without further ado, below are the top homemade skin care recipes that you should give a try.

Hydrating Eye Cream

There’s no denying that anti-aging skincare products always top our list of priorities. This is one of the reasons many individuals hesitate to shift to organic skincare products. However, with natural ingredients such as rose water that is skin firming, homemade skincare remedies can do the job.

To make a hydrating and skin firming eye cream, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • ¼ cup of green tea
  • 1 tbsp of sweet almond oil and rosehip seed oil
  • 1tsp of emulsifying wax
  • 2 – 3 drops of carrot seed and lavender essential oil
  • 1/8 tsp of Neodefend
  • ¼ tsp of Vitamin E

Below are the steps to follow:

  • Start by brewing the recommended amount of green tea. While the tea is brewing, take two medium pans and fill them with water halfway. Now place glass bowls with spouts in each pot before putting them on medium heat.
  • Now, add vitamin E oil, wax, rosehip and almond sweet oil to one pot, and Neodefend and green tea to the other.
  • Boil them until the wax melts. Turn the pots off when their temperatures match.
  • Once the water has heated up to 130 degrees, pour the mixture containing green tea and Neodefend into the other mixture.
  • While pouring the mixture into the other glass bowl, stir or blend simultaneously to mix them together.
  • Once the mixture is ready, you can add the above mentioned essential oils. Try and store the mixture in a dark glass container to ensure long shelf life.

Firming Facial Mask

Anit-aging and firming masks anyone? With just a few ingredients from your pantry, you can be the envy of your friends with perfectly firm and youthful skin. All you’ll need are the following homemade skincare recipes:

  • Fuller’s Earth, otherwise known as Multani mitti
  • Milk or yogurt
  • Rosewater (If you’re allergic or sensitive to milk dairy products, be sure to replace milk/yogurt with rosewater.

Mix all the above ingredients in a bowl until it forms a thick paste. Using a soft facial brush, apply the mixture to your face and let it dry for at least 10 minutes. This face mask is only comprised of homemade skincare remedies that firms, tones and removes blemishes from the skin.

Anti-Acne Scrub

Normally, the facial and body scrubs that we buy from top brands are made out of plastic beads. These beads, even though touted as less harmful, tend to irritate the skin. To help save the environment from pollution and protect your skin, why not make your own handcrafted skincare scrub?

With the following list of ingredients, you’ll end up making a scrub that is almost, if not already, as effective as small-batch skincare products. This one is a simple sugar facial scrub.

  • 1 tsp of brown sugar
  • 2 drops of lemon or orange juice
  • Tea Tea oil
  • Lavender essential oil (optional)

Place all the aforementioned ingredients into a clean bowl and mix them together. When it’s formed into a creamy paste, gently rub it against your skin for at least five minutes before rinsing it off. If you wish, you can also let the mixture sit on your face for 10- 15 minutes.

Be sure to avoid the eye area since it is highly sensitive. After washing the mixture off of your face, pat it dry with a clean towel and be sure to moisturize.

Another very effective facial scrub that is loved by many is the lemon and sugar face scrub. It may sound similar to the above-highlighted scrub. However, its key ingredients differentiate the two. All you’ll need are the following ingredients:

  • 1/ 2 a lemon
  • 1 tbsp of organic honey
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil
  • ½ cup of brown sugar

Mix the above ingredients in a clean bowl and use your fingers to rub the mixture against your skin. Your skin will look brighter, firmer and healthier. The lemon helps combat sun damage and acne, while the honey and olive oil help keep the skin moisturized.

Lip Scrub

The skin on our lips is far more sensitive than the skin on our face or body. Given the fact that it’s just as exposed to harsh climatic conditions, it’s only fair that we care for our lips. If you’ve started noticing dry chapped skin on your lips, it’s time to scrub away those dead skin cells.

To make a lip scrub, you only need the following ingredients:

  • 1- 2 tsp of Sugar, preferably brown
  • Vitamin E capsule
  • 1- 2 tsp of honey
  • ½ -1 tsp olive oil

Mix all the above ingredients in a clean container before using the mixture on your lips. Scrub for at least 5 to 10 minutes for soft silky lips. You should notice that your lips have brighter and deeper complexion as well.

Really Moisturizing Handcrafted Skincare Lotion

  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • ¼ cup beeswax
  • 1 dollup of Vitamin E (Tocopheryl)
  • Essential Oils of your choice

Note: Leave the essential oils aside until the final step. Start boiling some water in a pot on your stove.

Take the above ingredients and place these into a tin bowl. Put the tin bowl on top of the boiling water to melt all these wonderful natural ingredients together. Stir with a whisk.

Once everything is melted, pour the liquid into a mixing bowl being very careful not to get even a drop of water into it. One drop can cause the whole batch to go rancid early and pill.

Now stir it with a whisk as fast as possible, your arm should get tired. If you are not interested in this old school approach, go ahead and use a blender.

As soon as the ingredients have cooled down so that you can place your hand on the outside of the mixing bowl, go ahead and put as many essential oils in as you wish. See a list of essential oil blends on pinterest.

Once you are in love with the scent pour it into a storage container. A glass jar is best with an air tight lid. There are only two types of air tight containers. One with a tin lid where the middle section falls out and one where the side clasps down. The tin lid with the attached middle is not air tight. Do not be fooled. Let it cool and you now have a handcrafted skincare lotion.

Blackhead Removal and Mitigation

  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • ½ tablespoon water

Mix the two ingredient in small bowl until you have a paste like consistency. You want it to be thick so that it sticks to your face. Rince your face with water and then apply it with your fingers to your t-zone or anywhere you have blackheads or acne. Leave it on for anywhere from 1 minute to 15 minutes. It might burn a little which means it’s getting into your pores. When you feel you’re finished, gently rinse and rub off. Do this twice a week.
